Top 10 Technology Trends in 2020 and Beyond

As we wind down the 2019 and the previous decade and look ahead to the New Year and the start of the next decade, technology is moving at a faster pace than ever before. Some changes have already started to occur and are built on previous technologies. Other technologies will just be emerging thanks to other advances.

 

1. IoT (Internet of Things): As IoT continues to improve, expect to find it on more than just personal assistant, thermostat and refrigerator. Pretty soon you can use IoT for your garage door opener, to start your washing machine or dishwasher, or start preheating the oven to cook your dinner.

2. Robots: You will start to see a wide array of robots designed to perform various tasks and functions. From sweeping and mopping floors to working on assembly lines in factories, robots will make our lives easier.

3. 3D Printing for Everyone: Up to know, 3D printing has been rather expensive and limited to businesses with deep pockets. As we moving into 2020, the costs for 3D printing technologies will continue to decline and make it affordable for everyone to own a 3D printer.

4. Disc-less Devices: Say goodbye to SATA hard drives as they will become obsolete. Future storage devices will use SSD and other digital storage methods that have no moving parts. CD/DVD/Blu-ray Disc drives will also become less standard with cloud-based downloads.
